Spring 2018 Special Feature
A few thoughts about Anne Fenety and Cheryle Kelm from Interim Director, Dr. Derek Rutherford on behalf of the School of Physiotherapy.

Anne Fenety
“It’s time to hang up the boots” - - Dr. Anne Fenety has been the captain of our team for 6 years. As Director of the School of Physiotherapy, Dr. Fenety was known as a “doer” …and a lot was done. The development and launch of the Dal Physio Clinic, the design and construction of two world class research suites, strategic planning, curriculum development and the expanded celebration of our alumni are just a few of the accomplishments made by our school in the past 6 years under the direction of Dr. Fenety. Dr. Fenety began with the School of Physiotherapy in 1995 and for over 20 years has been dedicated to the instruction of musculoskeletal health and ergonomics research. Dr. Fenety was standing at her desk long before it was in vogue; an attest to her visionary qualities. The term of Director for Dr. Fenety is over, but her accomplishments will be remembered for a long time. The Faculty, Staff and students would like to thank Dr. Fenety for her dedication to physiotherapy and our school as she takes a year for administrative leave, considering what the next challenge will be.
Cheryle Kelm
Cheryle Kelm is indeed no stranger to Dalhousie University, having been called in to assist on many occasions over the years to offer her expertise in Cardiorespiratory physiotherapy management and education. In 2005, Cheryle decided to call Nova Scotia home; making the School of Physiotherapy very happy to have a strong educator with her expertise in a more permanent role. For over 12 years, Cheryle Kelm has been dedicated to the School and more importantly, to our students, offering support and guidance as they learn not only the importance of the lungs, but the importance of compassion and empathy as they become the world’s greatest Physiotherapists. On July 1st 2018, Cheryle will be retiring from her role within the School of Physiotherapy. The Faculty, Staff and students would like to thank Cheryle for her dedication and wish her very well in this next adventure.
