Annual History Department Curling Bonspiel

The Annual History Curling Bonspiel is our most anticipated social event in the department. Every February, intrepid students and faculty alike hit the ice for an epic contest of will, skill, dexterity, and - ultimately - humility. The bonspiel is held at one of Halifax's cherished institutions, the Mayflower Curling Club, which is also home to the championship rinks of Colleen Jones and Mark Dacy.  Students (senior undergraduate and graduate) are very encouraged to participate, and faculty come from a number of departments in FASS. No skill is needed - only enthusiasm. Pre-bonspiel introductory tutorials are provided by our departmental cynosure of curling, Phil Zachernuk. Undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in participating (or even organizing a team), are encouraged to contact (respectively) the Undergraduate History Society and the Graduate History Society.
