Women’s Volleyball Playoffs

Dal AC vs Mount Allison

The RAMS came into the ACAA Women’s Volleyball Championship as the underdog and came so close to pulling off an upset over the #3 seeded Mounties losing 3-2. Dal AC had a 2 sets to 1 lead but couldn’t quite match the relentless offence of Mount Allison over the final 2 frames. Great showing by the team who should be very proud of their performance.

The highlight of the weekend came later at the awards banquet when Head Coach Carrie Peck took home the ACAA Women’s Volleyball Coach of the Year award to a standing ovation from all schools. Marit Zwinselman was also rewarded with the ACAA Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the year award along with First Team All Conference honors.

DAL AC Athletes of the Week

Mariah Putnam (Volleyball)

Mariah was undeniably Dal AC’s top performer in the quarter final match against Mount A. She left it all on the floor giving the team a chance to win almost every rally with her consistent play. Mariah makes everyone on her team better and deserves a lot of praise this season for leading by example, impressive for an athlete in her first year out of high school.

Marit Zwinselman (Volleyball)

Marit had a strong game vs Mount A providing a lot of offense for the RAMS who put up a valiant fight in the championship quarter final. After the match she was awarded as the Dal AC player of the game before finding out later in the evening that she was the 2019-20 Female Rookie of the Year (for ACAA Women’s Volleyball) as well as a First Team All Conference award winner.
