The Department of Animal Science and Aquaculture takes great please in introducing our newest faculty member, Dr. Rebecca Meagher, who joined Dalhousie University, Faculty of Agriculture, and the Department of Animal Science and Aquaculture in August as Assistant Professor, Animal Welfare.

Rebecca grew up in Kitchener, Ontario, and studied Zoology at the University of Toronto, specialising in animal behaviour. She then completed a PhD in Animal Science at the University of Guelph under the supervision of Dr. Georgia Mason, focusing on the behaviour and welfare of farmed mink, and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Animal Welfare Program at the University of British Columbia, where she worked with dairy cattle. She moved to Dalhousie from a position as a lecturer at the University of Reading in England, and is a member of the International Society for Applied Ethology.
