Looking for volunteer hours? Want to get involved? Help the Truro Farmers’ Market reduce its environmental footprint and more.
Our primary need for volunteers right now is for our waste reduction initiative, which takes place during and right after the market. The market runs from 8am-1pm and volunteers will be needed until about 2 pm. Suggested time slots are two hours, with between one and three people at a time.
TFM has a new, central waste sorting station that is manned by volunteers at all times. Volunteers will be face-to-face with market customers and vendors, helping people put their waste in the correct bin (compost, recyclables, refundables, paper, landfill). Volunteers will also circulate around the market (inside and outside), sorting waste, checking for abandoned garbage and helping people find the sorting station.
Gloves and training are provided. Bring your enthusiasm for waste reduction!
Other TFM volunteer roles:
1. Set up, serving food and cleanup at the Market Fare dinners (the first Wednesday evening of each month during the summer)
2. Staffing our information booth
3. Helping with special initiatives (workshops, "Little Sprouts" program)
Contact Margaret Graves at tfmcvolunteers@gmail.com if you can lend a hand with any of these initiatives.
