We are searching for

Sustainability Manager Atlantic Canada

We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to join our new business unit and take responsibility for ensuring environmental compliance, sustainability, and innovation as well as managing regulatory affairs and relations with community and government stakeholders. You’ll be an expert at influencing and challenging in a positive way; and you’ll bring that positivity when demonstrating your capabilities in a role with ever-changing demands.

Main responsibilities:

• Manage relations with government regulators and elected representatives.

• Lead collaborative science to advance sustainability.

• Implement product certification programs, such as Best Aquaculture Practices and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council.

• Engage with First Nations, industry, academia, conservation groups and the local community.

• Understand all laws and regulations applicable to the salmon-farming sector.

• Solid understanding of salmon aquaculture, including freshwater and marine production, harvesting, fish health practices and environmental management.

• Securing environmental compliance, both internal and from our partners.

• Seawater and freshwater leases, Licenses, Amendments and Concessions.

• Monitor food safety and quality.

The right candidate has:

• Higher education in environmental management, biology or equivalent.

• Experience from authority management, quality management or environmental management.

• Solid experience from salmon production, and a track record of working constructively with planning, coordination and implementation of strategy and/or new processes.

• A “can do” attitude with excellent cooperation and communications skills.

• An innovative and challenging mindset with regard to strategy, and structured and systematic in implementation and execution.

• Loyalty to the company’s business, vision and values, and thus a role model.

• Service minded and trustworthy.

• Excellent written and spoken English.

Reporting to Managing Director, Jamie Gaskill, you will be a member of the Marine Harvest Atlantic Canada management team and as such will be directly involved with the creation of the strategy, business plan, and buildup of the business unit.
