Diet shifts and speciation in herbivorous insects: ecological causes and evolutionary consequences

Steve completed a B.Sc. at Waterloo in 1988 and a Ph.D in Ecology at the University of Pennsylvania in 1993. After a postdoc at UBC, he took a faculty job at the University of Iowa. In 2002 he moved to UNB, where he is Professor of Biology (and past Chair of Biology and Acting Dean of Science).

His research interests have been broad, but current emphases include plant-insect interactions and the evolution of biodiversity. You can find out more about Steve at www2.unb.ca/~sheard, follow him on Twitter @StephenBHeard, or read his blog at scientistseessquirrel.wordpress.com.
