As members of the ProBus Clubs of Halifax, Annapolis Valley and Dartmouth, we believe retired and semi-retired residents in the Truro area would welcome a ProBus club dedicated to their town and surrounding communities. Therefore, you and your partner are invited to an Information Meeting to learn about the ProBus Club organization.
When: 10:00 a.m. on April 15th, 2014
Where: Fire Hall on Young Street, Truro
(Parking opposite Young Street entrance)
Coffee & Tea will be available
ProBus is an international organization of social clubs dedicated to fellowship among retired and semi-retired professional and business men and women and anyone who has had some measure of responsibility in any field of endeavour. A ProBus club is not a service club and it does not engage in any fund raising or charitable activities. Also it is non-political and non-sectarian. Therefore it is free of the constraints and obligations often associated with service, political and other similar volunteer organizations, although many ProBus members continue to work with such organizations.
ProBus, an acronym for Professional and Business, enables members to relax regularly with friends; renew former friendships and meet new friends and enjoy the stimulation of common interests through guest speakers. There are more than 4,000 clubs worldwide, of which 236 are in Canada. Eleven are in the Atlantic Provinces including three in Nova Scotia.
Clubs generally meet once a month in the morning, have a period of socializing with coffee and then enjoy a topical presentation by a guest speaker. Some clubs arrange lunch following the meeting. Annual dues are usually in the $35-$45 range, with a one time joining fee of about $20 to cover the cost of membership pins, name badges and associated administration costs.
We look forward to welcoming you to this Information Meeting when you will have the opportunity to ask questions and meet representatives of ProBus Canada and the local ProBus Clubs, whom we have invited to tell you more about the activities of the organization and their clubs. More information on ProBus clubs can also be found at www.probus.org/canada.htm.
