Bruker AVANCE NEO @ 4.7T
 (200MHz)

This instrument was installed in 2024. It was part of a CFI grant targeted for energy applications led by Professors Michael Freund and Erin Johnson, with Josef Zwanziger being a co-PI.

The system features
  • a 1.9 mm MAS probe head (Bruker, 31P-15N/19F-1H, max spinning  42 kHz)
  • a 4 mm MAS probe head (Bruker, 31P-15N/19F-1H, max spinning 15 kHz)
  • a 7 mm MAS probe head (Bruker, 31P-15N/19F-1H, max spinning 7 kHz)
  • a double-resonance static in situ NMR probe head (eProbe/NMR Service GmbH, 31P-15N/19F-1H, cell capsules and pouch cells) with a  Bio-Logic potentiostat and
  • an eATM ROBOT (NMR-Service GmbH, H-F/X)

Bruker AVANCE NEO/Avance  @ 9.4T
 (400MHz)

This instrument was brought to Halifax by Professor Josef Zwanziger in 2003. Its console has been upgraded several times. The instrument can be operated from the Bruker Avance NEO console or  a Bruker AVANCE console.

The system features
  • a 2.5 mm MAS probe head (Bruker, 31P-15N/19F-1H  max spinning 30 kHz)
  • a 4 mm MAS probe head (Bruker, 31P-15N/19F-1H, max spinning 15 kHz)
  • a 4mm triple channel MAS probe head (Bruker, with various XY-pairs,  max spinning 15 kHz)
  • a 7 mm MAS probe head (Bruker, 31P-15N/19F-1H, max spinning 7 kHz) and
  • a static wide-line probe head (Bruker, 31P-15N, 5mm and 10mm sample sizes)
