The work of ACEWH


Between 1996 and 2013, the work of Atlantic Centre of Excellence for Women's Health (ACEWH) comprised three main areas:

  • Research projects: We collaborated with dozens of researchers, hundreds of community partners, and thousands of individuals to learn more about the health needs and experiences of vulnerable populations of women and girls in Atlantic Canada, as well as in other parts of the country and the world.
  • Knowledge translation: We worked with policy makers across sectors and regions to provide them with evidence informed by sex- and gender-based analysis.
  • Capacity building: We led or contributed to the development of helpful tools and training opportunities to help researchers, health planners, policy makers and others to better understand and use sex- and gender-based analysis in their work.
