Canadian Foundation for Legal Research

Posted by Jaq-Lin Larder on January 16, 2023 in Research Funding

The Canadian Foundation for Legal Research is now accepting applications for the Research Grant program to support legal writing of value to Canadian lawyers, notaries, and judges in their day-to-day work in the law and in the administration of justice. Funds between $5000 and $15,000 will support legal research that falls into three categories:

  • Research and writing that emphasizes the statement of existing rules of law, which is often called doctrinal research.
  • Research that relates to the workings of the legal system.
  • Research that relates to developments in fields peripheral to legal doctrine, such as criminology, psychology, psychiatry, sociology and economics, and their relationship to rules of law.

Details about the program and application guidelines are available here.
