The Canadian Science Policy Centre in partnership with Canada's Chief Science Advisor Dr. Mona Nemer is pleased to announce the application period for Science Meets Parliament 2023 is now open. New this year, Science Meets Parliament is expanding its eligibility criteria to include current Banting Postdoctoral Fellows affiliated with a Canadian university.
Science Meets Parliament is an annual event that offers scientists working in Canada a unique opportunity to develop their understanding of the parliamentary process, to explore their role in modern political decision-making, and experience a day behind the scenes on Parliament Hill to meet with MPs and Senators, attend House and Senate committee meetings, discuss scientific research, and become familiar with the political process.
Topics covered during Science Meets Parliament include:
- Science Policy 101
- Science Communication and Media
- Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Dimensions and applications in Academia, Government, and Policy
- Science to Policy I: Principles of Evidence-based Decision Making
- Science to Policy II: Policy Making in Parliament
- Science to Policy III: Policy Making in Bureaucracy
The Science Meets Parliament committee will be hosting a virtual information session on October 26, 1 - 2pm AST, to introduce the program and answer any questions you may have. Please register here.
