The Energy Innovation Program (EIP) provides funding to support research, development, and demonstrations to advance the commercial viability of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies, bringing Canada together on the path to net-zero emissions by 2050. As part of Budget 2021, the government is investing $319 million over seven years into research, development, and demonstrations to advance the commercial viability of CCUS technologies.
This is the first in a series of CCUS funding calls. It supports Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) studies for CCUS projects that have the potential to significantly mitigate emissions. These projects will increase the knowledge base for applying CCUS technologies to different types of facilities in Canada.
