Faculty who are planning to invite an international visitor to campus are reminded that new Canadian immigration regulations now require that your visitor may need to apply for a work permit, Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), and/or electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), prior to arrival. It is important that you and your visitor(s) check on these requirements before making travel arrangements to come to Canada.
International visitors could include visiting professors, visiting researchers, or students from other universities who are completing internships or co-op work terms at Dalhousie. Their stays may range from days to months. Some visitors are able to enter Canada as visitors (either with a TRV or eTA), while others may also require a work permit, even if they are not being paid by Dalhousie.
For more information and details of who to contact about your planned visitor to campus, please consult this memorandum issued by Human Resources.
