Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s) and Chemical Safety Resources
The Environmental Health and Safety Office has subscribed to the Academic Support Program (ASP) delivered by the Canadian Centre of Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS). Under this program, the University has acquired online databases providing safety information on chemicals and other hazardous substances.
The CCOHS ASP provides a MSDS database comprising of more than 300,000 current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) directly from 2000 North American suppliers and manufacturers.
More information on this MSDS database along with other chemical safety resources can be found here.
Chemical Spill Kits
The Environmental Health and Safety Office has issued new chemical spill kits to various locations around campus. These spill kits are intended to provide the resources for addressing most manageable spills, and are located in common areas in proximity to laboratories where it can be easily accessed. The EHS Office will inspect the kits to ensure that required supplies are present and in good condition on an annual basis or more often if deemed necessary. Laboratory personnel should familiarize themselves with the location of the nearest spill kit.
