IC‑IMPACTS Call: Portable Devices & Analyzers

Posted by Suman Jha on February 12, 2016 in Research Funding

IC-IMPACTS and the Government of India’s Department of Biotechnology (DBT) are seeking proposals from joint Canada-India teams, to support collaborative research projects in the Health sector. Projects may be of a duration of 12-24 months.

IC-IMPACTS and DBT have partnered to support new collaborative research in Portable Devices & Analyzers. Through collaboration and innovation, Canadian and Indian research teams will be working to develop novel, rapid and portable diagnostics that are suitable for deployment and use in rural and remote settings and which will enable more effective health intervention and treatment across both nations.

This call for proposals will focus on automated assays which can multiplex tests for a range of diseases into a simple portable test. Tests should be based on easily-collected sample types such as a finger stick of blood, saliva or urine.  Successful projects will be focused on the development and evaluation of new diagnostics and analyzers in each of the following areas:

·         Infectious Diseases
·         Maternal and Infant Health
·         Nutritional Deficiency
·         Interdisciplinary Approaches and Platform Technologies

Full details of these awards are available on the IC-IMPACTS website here

Any Dalhousie faculty member interested in this opportunity is asked to contact the International Research Facilitator (jennifer.morawiecki@dal.ca) for more information and support in developing an application.

Deadline: 30 March 2016
