The Canadian Cancer Society is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Cole Foundation to fund Impact Grants in the area of leukemia and lymphoma research. This fund of up to $3 million will support collaborative research teams that:

·         are proposing research in leukemia or lymphoma to impact children and/or young adults;
·         include investigators at 2 or more institutions;
·         include at least one principal investigator based in Montreal; and
·         include at least 1 clinician.

The Cole Foundation was created in 1980 as a private initiative in Montreal to promote research and child care in the area of pediatric oncology and hematology, in particular, leukemia. Following a research summit in Mont Gabriel at the end of November, the Canadian Cancer Society – Quebec division and the Cole Foundation unveiled a unique partnership to implement this significant research fund to support leukemia and lymphoma research. The initiative aims to break down barriers, encourage closer collaboration between institutions, develop new research teams and promote new ideas to impact cancer.

In addition to the Canadian Cancer Society – Quebec division and Cole Foundation, significant contributors to this fund include: the R. Howard Webster Foundation, Mirella & Lino Saputo Foundation, Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé, Birks Family Foundation, Maryse & William Brock Chair, Fondation CHU Sainte Justine, The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, Morris & Rosalind Goodman Family Foundation and the Henry & Berenice Kaufmann Foundation. This partnership will allow for funding of additional Impact Grant Awards in leukemia and lymphoma research.

Research teams that meet the criteria indicated above are encouraged to apply. Please see the Impact Grants program description for more information.
