SSHRC's Launch of Knowledge Synthesis Grants competition

Posted by Suman Jha on November 16, 2015 in Announcements

SSHRC would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the launch of a Knowledge Synthesis Grants competition linked to the Imagining Canada’s Future initiative, focusing on one of the six future challenge areas.

In this competition, proposals are sought that address the challenge area of: How can emerging technologies be leveraged to benefit Canadians?

The funding opportunity description is currently posted on SSHRC’s website with an application deadline of January 12, 2016. Results will be announced in March 2016. Please note that Genome Canada has partnered with SSHRC to co-fund relevant knowledge synthesis grants proposals, subject to the SSHRC merit review process.

We anticipate offering 15 awards valued at up to $25,000 each. The synthesis reports will be due no later than October 14, 2016. Successful applicants will be expected to attend two knowledge mobilization workshops in Ottawa, the first in April 2016 and the second in November 2016 as part of the Imagining Canada’s Future Fall Forum, to discuss the knowledge syntheses. Travel costs for these meetings must be included in the budget submitted as part of the application. Details on the meetings will be provided to successful applicants.

These grants are not intended to support original research, rather they are intended to support the synthesis of existing research knowledge on the topic and the identification of knowledge gaps.
