End of Grant Knowledge Translation (KT) Course

KT Canada - with support from St. Michael's Hospital and the Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit - is pleased to offer an End of Grant Knowledge Translation (KT) Course on August 14, 2015 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This full-day course is designed to provide researchers, trainees and research support staff with the tools needed to develop an end of grant KT plan and write the KT portion of grant applications.

Speakers include:

  • Kim Barnhardt (Communications and Partnerships Strategist, Canadian Medical Association Journal)
  • Jessie McGowan, PhD (Adjunct professor, Dept of Medicine, University of Ottawa; Associate Editor, Journal of Clinical Epidemiology)
  • Sharon Straus, MSc, MD (Director and Principal Investigator, Knowledge Translation Program, Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, St. Michael's Hospital; Professor, Dept of Medicine, University of Toronto)

Topics include:

  • Assessing impact of research - how to use and interpret bibliometrics and altmetrics
  • Developing an approach to help tell your story using media and social media
  • Writing your end of grant KT section

The format will include lectures as well as group exercises.


The target audience for the course is:

  • Scientists interested in learning more about end of grant KT
  • Trainees learning to write grants
  • Research staff who write grants

Registration deadline is Augusy 6, 2015.  

When: Friday, August 14, 2015 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Where: Halifax, NS

Required documents: Applicants must submit a 1 page summary of the project that they will be working on
