Accessibility

SERVICES

The Arts Centre is committed to making the arts accessible to all. We understand every situation is unique and are pleased to offer the following services for all performances:

Assistive Listening System

To enhance the enjoyment of those who may be hard of hearing, listening aids are available free of charge from an usher. A piece of identification is required for deposit.

The Rebecca Cohn Auditorium is equipped with an LS-55 Stationary Wireless RF System by Listen Technologies. This Assistive Listening System has a signal-to-noise ratio of 80 dB or greater with an audio frequency response of 50 Hz-15 kHz. To be accessible to as many people as possible, there are multiple attachments available to suit various needs: universal ear speaker, headsets for dual ear listening or intelligent neck loop/lanyard. For those with hearing aids and cochlear implants equipped with telecoils, the lanyard has an integrated DSP driven neck loop that automatically senses and directly sends optimized audio signals.

If you have questions about our Assistive Listening System, please reach out to our House Manager at aryerson@dal.ca or (902) 494-2667.

Wheelchair Accessibility

The Arts Centre is equipped with a wheelchair accessible ramp to the front doors and automatic doors to assist in entering the building. Restrooms are also wheelchair accessible and are located on the second and fourth floor. There are a number of spaces in the auditorium designed to meet the needs of patrons in wheelchairs; these options can be booked via a Box Office representative at (902) 494-3820 and they will help find the best solution for you.

Service Animal Accommodation

Service animals are welcome and may accompany patrons to events in the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium. Please contact aryerson@dal.ca or call (902) 494-2667 to leave a message regarding this. Pets are not permitted inside the Dalhousie Arts Centre.
