About

The Canada Travel Activity (CanTRAC) Survey is collecting information about daily household travel activities of residents over the age of 16 in key Canadian cities. A greater understanding of when, where, why, and how Canadians travel will assit transportation authorities better estimate the future transportation needs of Canadian cities as they grow.

Help Canadian cities prepared for their future transportation needs!

Your participation is important!

The survey will collect information about your household and household members' daily travel activities. The survey will ask questions about your travel activities on the previous weekday, including where you went, how you got there, and what you did there. The travel day reported must be a weekday (i.e., Monday-Friday, excluding holidays). Each household member may choose to record their travel activities using the travel log form.

It is important that information on a variety of transportation modes  used by residents is collected - including drivers, public transit users, cyclists, and pedestrians - regardless of how many trips were took.

The survey will take approximately 20-25 minutes depending on the size of your household and number of trips taken in the chosen travel day. It is extremely important that all data is entered completely and accurately.

Study Area

The first phase of the Canada Travel Activity Survey will target Moncton, New Brunswick, Charlottetown, PEI, Calgary, Alberta, and Lethbridge, Alberta. Participate today and represent your community!
