Overview
My career has spanned business, law, and academia. I was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada as a child, growing up in Ottawa. I later studied finance and marketing at McGill University and law at Osgoode Hall Law School, and completed an LL.M. in international business law from the University of London. I practiced law for many years in Toronto at both leading law firms and a major chartered bank, advising on the taxation of investment products, cross-border transactions, pensions, compensation, trusts, and estates.
While I found legal practice intellectually rewarding, I realized that what I valued most was making a direct and lasting impact on others. That realization led me to transition into teaching. For more than 15 years, I have taught business law, ethics, and social responsibility in post-secondary education.
In my teaching, I focus on helping business students develop strong reasoning, critical thinking, and decision-making skills that they can carry into their professional lives. I am particularly interested in how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence can support deeper learning. My work explores how AI can be integrated thoughtfully into education to strengthen, rather than replace, students’ analytical thinking and professional judgment. I also write and present on teaching, critical thinking, and the evolving role of artificial intelligence in higher education.
