Theoretical and practical issues in intercultural communications


All students who want to earn a Certificate in Intercultural Communications must take ASSC 3150 (Intercultural Communication). The class ties together the theory and practice experienced in the course of completing this certificate. It helps you gain a deeper understanding of intercultural difference, and makes you more able to understand other cultural patterns and adapt to them.

Research has shown that academic study of culture and experience in intercultural contexts are not sufficient for developing increased ability to function effectively in intercultural interactions. Our capstone class, ASSC 3150 (Intercultural Communication) will help you tie what you have learnt together, gain a deeper understanding of intercultural difference and commonality, and become more able to understand other cultural patterns and adapt to them.

Prerequisites: Open to undergraduate students with at least 45 earned credit hours or any graduate student.
