Research Interests:

·         Canadian Foreign and Defence Policy
·         Maritime Strategy
·         Maritime Security Operations
·         Maritime Situational Awareness.

A senior naval officer with leadership experience in critical thinking, strategic planning, policy development and implementation, international institutions and personnel management.

Relevant Experience:

·         Senior Staff Officer Defence Policy and Maritime Affairs in the Canadian Permanent Delegation to NATO and also Canadian Military Liaison Officer to the European Union Military Staff and External Action Service in Brussels Belgium (2010-2013).

·         Experienced in the policy work emanating from the Western Pacific Naval Symposium while involved in the organization of the Canadian Naval Centennial International Fleet Review in Victoria BC (2009-2010).

·         Whilst in Command of HMCS PROTECTEUR (2008-2009), undertook international engagement in cooperation with Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in India, Malaysia, Japan, Republic of Korea, and China.

·         While serving as Executive Assistant to the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff (2007-08) and as a member of the staff in the Chief of Force Development (2004-2007) provided advice to senior decision makers on many facets of defence policy, including defence economics, future force development and military operating concepts.
