Exploring the cardioprotective role of exercise during treatment of childhood cancer: A feasibility and efficacy study

The goal of this study is to explore the safety and feasibility of a combined hospital and home-base aerobic exercise training program in youth receiving active treatment for childhood cancer. We will also explore the potential benefit of exercise therapy in minimizing potential heart damage resulting from cancer treatments.

Effect of active gaming on exercise participation and adherence in young adult survivors of paediatric cancers

The goal of this study is to learn more about the role of exergaming on activity interest and physical fitness for young adult survivors of childhood cancers.

Environmental influences on physical activity behaviours in breast cancer patients

The goal of this study is to identify the characteristics of environments and physical surroundings (i.e., distance to parks, clubs, or gyms) that act to help or discourage active lifestyle choices in women receiving breast cancer treatment. This is the first study to examine environmental characteristics through objective measures of physical activity. By using a small motion detector that records activity (i.e., accelerometer) and a Global Positioning System (GPS) that provides location information, the researchers will learn how to improve physical activity programs to improve care for women receiving treatment for breast cancer.
