MILESTONES has been developed in response to the growing burden associated with childhood and young adult cancers in Canada.

The primary goal of the research housed by MILESTONES will be to optimize the quality of life of young cancer survivors through an enhanced understanding of the effects of physical activity on important health outcomes.

MILESTONES is unique in that it mixes traditional physical activities (e.g., cycling) with interactive gaming technologies (e.g., PS3, Wii). Thanks to the generous support of the IWK management and clinical staff, we now have an exergaming facility housed on the pediatric hematology/ oncology unit. Our equipment is portable and can be moved to patient rooms if and when needed.

Stay tuned for more information and opportunities to become involved.
