Advising for FASS Students
FASS students are welcome to visit Dr. Becca Babcock, Assistant Dean of Student Matters, for academic advice or help with university regulations and policies. Come and ask Dr. Babcock about academic dismissals and probation, waiver requests, grade changes, or what to do if your grades aren't what you'd hoped they would be.
Wednesday Drop-Ins:
Wednesdays from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Office of the Dean, room 3030 of the Marion McCain Arts and Social Sciences Building.

Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Bissett Student Success Centre (4th floor Student Union Building) with Luna the Therapy Dog*.
Come and talk to Dr. Babcock or an academic advisor from the Bisset Centre, and get to know Luna the Beagle while you're there!
Luna will be reporting for duty as the Beagle at the Bissett through the exam period, but please note,her last day of work before she leaves for a summer vacation will be Monday, April 17.
*Luna is a St John Ambulance Therapy Dog. She provides comfort and companionship. No medical or psychiatric services are offered during these sessions. For mental health support, please visit the Mental Health Services at Dalhousie's Student Health and Wellness.

JMEUCE Student Essay Prize (30th April deadline)
Are you writing -- or did you submit last term -- a paper on some aspect of the European Union, either an individual member country or the EU as a whole? The Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence is offering its annual award of $200 for the best student essay on any aspect of the EU, so send along your submission by 30th April. The winning paper is also posted on the Centre's website
This award is open to Dalhousie students currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate programme. For details, go to www.dal.ca/jmeuce or contact jmeuce@dal.ca.
Topics covered include: Immigration policy: comparing Canada and Europe; Multiculturalism: Canadian and European perspectives; Identity politics in Europe and Canada; Exploring Nova Scotia local communities

Promoting Leadership in health for African Nova Scotians (PLANS)
Promoting Leadership in health for African Nova Scotians (PLANS) will be hosting an information session about Dalhousie Medical Admissions for the upcoming 2023/2024 cycle. Black students interested in applying to the Dalhousie Medical School are invited to join us on April 5th to learn about the application process and have their questions answered.

Fountain School's EDIA advisor helps open doors and challenge stigmas
Dr. Nicole Jordan, an assistant professor of music at Dal, brings her experience and expertise as a performer and scholar to the table to create better pathways for BIPOC students looking to enter the world of performing arts.
Masterclasses empower music students with powerful new production skills
With Erin Costelo’s masterclass on recording production in the new Strug Hall, students from Dal’s Fountain School of Performing Arts and NSCC experienced firsthand the benefits of a $1.25 million gift from the J&W Murphy Foundation.
To provide an annual prize to the Dalhousie University student registered with the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences who has written the best paper dealing with (any aspect of) the influence of Scottish culture within Canada (first preference will be given to papers dealing with the influence of Scottish culture within Nova Scotia). This award was established by the Clan Ramsay in Nova Scotia in recognition of the contribution of George Ramsay, 19th earl of Dalhousie, founder of Dalhousie University. LEARN MORE

A prize for outstanding contributions to citizen knowledge and community engagement in the area of health, broadly defined, including yet not limited to: personal, collective, social, structural, environmental, clinical, spiritual, biopsychosocial, cultural, and political dimensions of well-being.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must be enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies, including professional programs, within one of the following Faculties at Dalhousie University: Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Health, Faculty of Dentistry, or Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences. LEARN MORE

Lab2Market Launch
Lab2Market Launch (formerly Ready2Launch) applications are now open. L2M Launch is a summer accelerator offered by Dal Innovates for students and recent graduates across faculties who can receive up to $15k to work on launching their business idea.

Be a Together@Dal Mentor!
Together@Dal is designed to assist incoming students with their transition to Dalhousie.
Together@Dal’s mentors support and encourage new students through their first year at Dalhousie. Through one-on-one and group meetings, social activities, and events, a mentor is a knowledgeable guide for new students, a thoughtful facilitator who provides access to people and resources, and ultimately a role model and advocate. Together@Dal mentors support the development and delivery of initiatives, programs, and events to help students strengthen their learning skills, improve their confidence, increase their motivation, and connect to the university, their program, their faculty, and each other.
Registration is open for Research Camp 2023-2024! This comprehensive program that will take you through the research process from literature searching and writing all the way to publication. The program is open to any student, faculty, or staff member at Dalhousie, but is specifically tailored to graduate students. By registering for this program, you will have access to all of the pre-recorded modules beginning on May 15. You also have the option to register for sessions in the program that will be delivered live (online). Learn how to self-enroll in the Brightspace course to access the full content and register for individual live sessions on the Research Camp website.
