- Axelson RD, Kreiter CD. Rater and occasion impacts on the reliability of pre-admission assessments. Med Educ. 2009 Dec;43(12):1198-202
- The authors showed that having a higher number of interviews, each with one rater, is better than the traditional panel interview approach and it is a low cost alternative to the medical school administration interview.
- Eva KW, Reiter HI, Trinh K et al. Predictive validity of the multiple mini-interview for selecting medical trainees. Med Educ. 2009 Aug;43(8):767-75.
- The authors found that the relationship betwen people who did well in MMIs and their post-graduate national high states clinical skills exam was significant and it cast further doubt on the ability of the traditional (trait-based) interview to predict performance.
- Razack S, Faremo S, Drolet F et al. Multiple mini-interviews versus traditional interviews: stakeholder acceptability comparison. Med Educ. 2009 Oct;43(10):993-1000.
- The authors had applicants undergo both an MMI and a traditional interview and found that the MMI allowed them to be more competitive, it was more enjoyable and it was the applicants' favourite part of the interview process. In addition, the evaluators preferred it to the traditional interview style; it showed it was a promising technique.
- Kumar K, Roberts C, Rothnie I et al. Experiences of the multiple mini-interview: a qualitative analysis. Med Educ. 2009 Apr;43(4):360-7.
- The authors studied trends between what applicants reported post-interview with regards to their understanding of the MMI process, for example, their opinion on a one-to-one interview, attributes assessed, attributes that should be assessed, etc.
- Griffin B, Harding DW, Wilson IG, Yeomans ND. Does practice make perfect? The effect of coaching and retesting on selection tests used for admission to an Australian medical school. Med J Aust. 2008 Sep 1;189(5):270-3.
- The authors found that undergoing coaching before undertaking entry selection tests did not assist and may have even hindered students' performance on the MMI. However, practicing similar MMIs did improve overall scores.
- Humphrey S, Dowson S, Wall D et al. Multiple mini-interviews: opinions of candidates and interviewers. Med Educ. 2008 Feb;42(2):207-13.
- Both candidates and interviewers filled out questionnaires; both groups agreed that the MMI format was reliable, fair and asked appropriate, easy-to-understand, questions.
- Reiter HI, Eva KW, Rosenfeld J, Norman GR. Multiple mini-interviews predict clerkship and licensing examination performance. Med Educ. 2007 Apr;41(4):378-84.

- Eva KW, Reiter HI, Rosenfeld J, Norman GR. The relationship between interviewers' characteristics and ratings assigned during a multiple mini-interview. Acad Med. 2004 Jun;79(6):602-9.
- The authors found that the MMI can assess the personal qualities of candidates by accounting for context specificity with a multiple sampling approach. In addition, they found that increasing the heterogeneity of interviewers increases the heterogeneity of accepted candidates.
- Siu E, Reiter HI. Overview: what's worked and what hasn't as a guide towards predictive admissions tool development. Adv Health Sci Educ Theory Pract. 2009 Dec;14(5):759-75.
- The authors found that GPA, medical school admissions test and MMIs show validity in predicting future performance but not personal interviews, statements, letters of reference, personality testing, emotional intelligence, or situational judgement tests.
- Rosenfeld JM, Reiter HI, Trinh K, Eva KW. A cost efficiency comparison between the multiple mini-interview and traditional admissions interviews. Adv Health Sci Educ Theory Pract. 2008 Mar;13(1):43-58.
