A combination of resource-hungry great powers, climate change, and rapidly evolving resource extraction technology has turned one of the world’s most stable regions into a focal point of much geopolitical interest and concern. Can the eight circumpolar states accommodate not only one another’s interests, but also those aspirant non-Arctic states?

This presentation will examine some of the major global security risks facing Canada in this century, in particular how climate change acts as a threat-multiplier and what this means for Canada's new foreign policy priorities.
