Tuesday: Dal Science Black Student Welcome & Panel Discussion

All Dal Science students who self-identify as African Nova Scotian, Black and/or of African descent are invited to attend a welcome event and panel discussion on Tuesday, September 19 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. in the Wallace McCain Learning Commons (Quiet Room). Dalhousie Centre for Psychological Health launches

This week, Dal and the provincial government officially announced the Dalhousie Centre for Psychological Health, a Halifax-based mental health and addictions clinic serving vulnerable populations. The provincial government has committed $4.5 million over three years in funding for the centre, which will see services provided by clinical psychology PhD students under the supervision of registered clinical psychologists. Dr. Kevin Hewitt selected for NSERC team tasked with creating greater inclusion in STEM

Dr. Kevin Hewitt, professor in the Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science and the Faculty of Science's associate dean, equity and inclusion, was announced as one of three inaugural Atlantic Chairs for Inclusion in Science and Engineering (A-CISE). The NSERC-established Chairs will create opportunities and initiatives with the mission of helping to change the face of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in the Atlantic region. Lunch and learn: Science Co-op Information Session

Are you a first- or second-year Science student who is curious about work-integrated learning opportunities at Dalhousie? Would you like to test drive your career, grow your network, earn an income, and graduate with experience? If so, join the SITE Co-op Office to learn about how co-operative education can add value to your academic journey.

On Friday, September 22 from 12 to 12:30 p.m., join a virtual lunch and learn session to find out more about the Science Co-op program. Registration is not required - you can join the Microsoft Teams meeting at this link.

Explore entrepreneurship with the Collide Discover program

Students interested in learning more about the skills needed to be an entrepreneur are invited to take part in the Collide Discover program this fall. Offered by Dal Innovates, the six-week program takes place on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. from October 4 to November 8. Learn more about the program and apply by September 27 on the Dal Innovates website.

Lab2Market Discover applications open

Find out if entrepreneurship is for you with Lab2Market Discover, a free virtual workshop from Dal Innovates for STEM researchers (master's, PhD or postdoctoral) interested in commercializing their research. The 10-week program starts in October and has an estimated time commitment of three hours per week. Learn more and apply by September 22 on the Dal Innovates website.

Pain Education Day from Solutions for Kids in Pain

Pain Education Day is a Patients Included event hosted by Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP) in partnership with the Centre for Pediatric Pain Research (CPPR) and the Pain in Child Health (PICH) training program.

The special topics Education Day will provide a deep dive into knowledge mobilization about how to bridge the gaps between research and practice, and policy. This event is for researchers, health professionals (from all disciplines), administrators, policymakers, trainees, patient partners, and others. Anyone from around the world or locally who wants to learn how to make a difference is encouraged to register.
