Dawn Web (BSc'22) is a queer and neurodivergent individual, born and raised in a small town in Ontario, and comes from a conservative mixed-race family of six. Web has been creating and exploring multiple mediums as coping strategies for as long as they can remember. They are a multi-media artist, award-winning dancer, author, instrumentalist in the band Wool Sweater, and creative director for Vivid Illusion Creative Studios Inc.

Web moved to Halifax, N.S. to complete a Bachelor of Science at Dal with a specialization in neuroscience and psychology. After their degree, Web completed de-escalation training as well as a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate. They completed various training with creative writing, music theory/training, dance and visual art and art therapy. This led them to pursue a career as a first responder, child and youth counsellor, research assistant, personal support caretaker, and, finally, an author and multidisciplinary artist.

Web is the author of a collection of poems called Red Corner. Their poem “Flashbacks” is also featured in Fathom Editorial. Web's work explores themes of identity, love, growth, perseverance and navigating intergenerational trauma aftermath to crack the cycle. What began as a coping mechanism has developed into a business, and Web is using stories to connect with others and bring unity.

Red Corner is now at Dal Bookstore, Agricola Street Books, Venus Envy, Amazon Books, Barnes and Nobel and is coming soon to Chapters/Indigo.
