Develop your English at your level, in ways that interest you

Explore instruction is designed with different levels of language understanding and experience in mind. Whether your English is beginner-level, intermediate or advanced, your instructors will work with you at your level. You'll participate in 6 hours of instruction each day (Monday to Friday): 3 hours in Workshops and 3 hours in Classes.

English Immersion Workshops

Sign up for a workshop to develop your language skills through a topic that interests you. Workshops can be in the morning or afternoon and topics might include:

Music and Theatre

Do you love acting and performing, playing music, or exploring your artistic side? Whether you enjoy being in the spotlight or are simply curious to try something new this summer, the Music & Theatre workshop is the one for you! In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to sing, act, play music, and move alongside others who share the same interests. From improv games to designing stage sets, as well as performing songs and working with musical instruments, this workshop is all about expressing yourself and learning new skills. The most exciting part? You will get the chance to work together to create a play that will be performed at the end of the program!

Science

Curious minds, get ready! In the Science workshop, your everyday questions are turned into amazing experiments! You will explore the exciting and surprising side of science in the most fun way possible, from bubbling reactions and mini explosions to wooden stick bridges and mystery substances. Whether you are an aspiring scientist or simply love discovering how things truly work, get on board, this workshop is for you! No need to wear a lab coat, just bring your curiosity and get ready to learn, create, and maybe get a little messy along the way!

Book and film

If you love getting lost in a good book or feel moved by an inspiring movie, this workshop is for you! In the Book & Film workshop, you will dive into stories that spark emotions, ideas and conversations, share your favorite reads, and, of course, discover your next must-watch. You will explore storytelling in all its shapes and forms while chatting with your peers, laughing and having fun. If this sounds like a good scenario, don’t hesitate any longer! The only risk? Seriously improving your English and your critical thinking skills! Whether you’re into fantasy worlds, mystery plots, science-fiction or romance novels, you will find your happy place!

Journalism

What’s really happening on campus? Who has the best look-alike? What is going on behind the doors of the science room? In the Journalism workshop, you’ll become a real reporter! Interviews, articles, pictures, videos, posts… and even publishing your very own newspaper. It will be your mission to keep the students informed of everything that is happening at Explore! You will have the opportunity to document this unforgettable summer and to compile all of it in a yearbook. Whether you’re into writing, photography, multimedia design, video production, or simply always want to stay in the loop, this workshop is for you!

History and culture (Halifax only)

History isn't just about dates. It's about people, inventions, revolutions, tragedies, power dynamics, and the stories that shaped the world of today. Do you love traveling through centuries and cultures? Do you want to gain a deeper understanding of the society we live in and the world around us? In the History and Culture workshop, you will explore fascinating traditions, art forms from all around the world, untold stories and once well kept secrets.

Everyone has a story to tell, and this workshop is your opportunity to discover and celebrate the richness of our differences through immersive experiences, shared stories and exciting activities. Sounds fun? Join the adventure!
