Erik Demaine: A Dalhousie Original
In many respects, the experience Erik Demaine had at Dalhousie sounds a lot like that of a typical student. Except that Erik was 12 years old — starting a degree he would finish in only two years, at age 14. He went on to become MIT’s youngest ever faculty member, receiving awards like the MacArthur Fellowship for his algorithmic research. A gifted artist as well, Dr. Demaine has an honorary degree from Dalhousie and will be returning to campus for activities during Dal’s 200th year.
The Dalhousie community is invited to attend a presentation by representatives of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) on Tri-Agency equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
In the Schulich School of Law's first ever appearance at the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Law Moot, Dal students took home the competition's grand prize.
Environmental Studies student Mirabai Alexander is a finalist in NSERC's "Science Action!" video contest. Watch her video exploring the intersection between moose, birds and plant life in Cape Breton Highlights National Park and learn how you can support her in the competition.
Heidelberg Engineering, a German-based eye care technology company, has pledged five more years of support for groundbreaking glaucoma research through the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation.
Tigers Sven Stammberger, Alex Carson, Keevan Veinot and Ariel Provo earned AUS awards this year, with Stamberger taking home the AUS Student-Athlete Community Service Award.
It’s difficult to find ways to improve on a season like the one the 2016-17 women’s volleyball team put together last year, but the Tigers are on pace to do just that.
POSTPONED - Belong Forum / Workshops
We apologize for the short notice, but unfortunately, Dr. Craig Steven Wilder is not able to join us for tonight's Dal 200 Belong Forum or tomorrow's workshops. Dr. Wilder's forum has been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 28 in the Potter Auditorium (Kenneth C. Rowe Management Building). More info.
