2023 Women in Stem Networking & Panel Event

The faculties of Computer Science, Engineering and Science are hosting their fifth annual Women in STEM event at the Canvas Resto Lounge (Cambridge Suites Hotel) from 6-8:00 pm on March 8, 2023. Dalhousie – Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) Experiential Learning Fund

Undergraduate students enrolled in Marine Biology or Ocean Sciences interested in taking summer courses or fall programs at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) are invited to apply for scholarships to cover tuition and accommodation costs through the Dalhousie-BIOS Experiential Learning Fund. As well, graduate students conducting thesis research in Oceanography, Ocean Sciences or Marine Biology may apply for Sea Experience Scholarships, which provide an opportunity to participate in a 5-day research cruise. Complete details on the three scholarships and how to apply can be found on the Department of Oceanography or Department of Biology websites.

Undergraduate Summer Course Scholarships
Eligibility: Marine Biology or Ocean Sciences undergraduate students in at least their second year of study with a minimum GPA of 3.3
Application deadline: March 12, 2023

Undergraduate Fall Program Scholarships
Eligibility: Marine Biology or Ocean Sciences undergraduate students who have completed at least two full years of study with a minimum GPA of 3.5
Application deadline: April 2, 2023

Graduate Sea Experience Scholarships
Eligibility: Graduate students conducting thesis research in Oceanography, Ocean Sciences or Marine Biology
Application deadline: At least four months prior to the potential cruise date (six cruises per year are normally available for student participation).

Job and Career Fair

The annual Dalhousie Job and Career Fair is back on campus for Winter 2023. Students and recent alumni are invited to meet with employers recruiting for full- and part-time positions, as well as summer, co-op, internship, casual and volunteer opportunities. Students can register to attend on myCareer.dal.ca.

3 Minute Thesis competition for grad students

Registration is now open for the annual 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for research-based master’s and doctoral students. Organized by the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS), 3MT challenges grad students to present their research to a non-specialist audience in under three minutes with only a PowerPoint slide as a visual aid. The opening heats for this year’s competition will be held on March 14, with the finals on March 20. Learn more and register on the FGS website. Preparation workshops will be held throughout February and March, including a dedicated session for Faculty of Science students on Feb. 16.
