Dalhousie launches historic $750-million campaign for transformative change


There were fireworks, applause and cheers as hundreds gathered this week in Halifax (April 2) and Truro (April 4) to celebrate the launch of Bringing Worlds Together, Dalhousie's campaign for transformative change. President Kim Brooks announced the campaign's $750-million goal — making it the largest university campaign ever in Atlantic Canada — and shared that Dal is already nearly halfway to that target.

Dal history prof Dr. Lisa Binkley challenged students to take what they were learning in her course about Métis identities, literature, laws, and history and integrate it into a graphic novel adaptation of Métis author K.D. Beckett's book Rocking Ten.

Catching the scent

Dogs’ sensitive noses can detect the early warning signs of many potentially dangerous medical situations such as an impending seizure or sudden hypoglycemia. Now, scientists have found evidence that assistance dogs might even be able to sniff out an oncoming post-traumatic stress disorder flashback by teaching two dogs to alert to the breath of people who have been reminded of traumas. Learn more.
