Applications open for John Dingle Science Communication Internships
Applications are now open for the 2025 John Dingle Science Communication Internship program, which provides five undergraduate science students with the opportunity to gain experience in science communication this summer through a full-time placement with one of the following host units:
Inclusive Pathways to Medical Professions (IPMP) - Medical Sciences Program
Marine Affairs Program
Eco-Hope: Pollinator Garden project
Dr. Chloé Schmidt's Biodiversity and Population Genetics Lab
Dalhousie Science Scholars and Leaders Program (DSSLP) and the Microbial Observatory Science Outreach Module (MOSOM) project
To be eligible, students should be currently enrolled in a Faculty of Science undergraduate program and be returning to full-time studies in fall 2025.

Discovery Days: Call for faculty hosts
Every year, over 300 students & teachers from around the HRM and beyond join us in the Faculty of Science for a series of fun, hands- on, and educational science and math activities as part of Discovery Days. We are looking for faculty members interested in hosting a session or more with junior high and high school students. This year, Discovery Days will run from April 28 - May 31 and all sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Women in STEM Alumni and Networking Event: Feb. 27
The seventh annual Women in STEM Alumni and Networking Event, hosted by the Faculties of Computer Science, Agriculture, and Engineering, takes place on Thursday, February 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the Canvas Resto Lounge in the Cambridge Suites Hotel. All members of the Dalhousie community are invited to attend this free event, but space is limited, and tickets are going fast. Learn more and register via Eventbrite.
Scholarship: Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorology Awards
A new scholarship program funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) aims to increase awareness of atmospheric science and meteorology professions among Canadian students. Dalhousie University students may apply for the following awards:
6 scholarships, each valued at $10,000 CAD, are available to students enrolling in a Meteorology certificate or diploma program, including Dalhousie’s Diploma in Meteorology.
6 scholarships, each valued at $5,000 CAD, are available to students enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program, regardless of major.
All interested students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the Department of Economics’ winter term seminars. Seminars will be held in-person. See the full schedule on the Economics website.

Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP) open lecture: April 9 (Hybrid)
Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP) is excited to invite the Dalhousie community to an insightful open lecture hosted by Dr. Melanie Barwick, a global expert in knowledge translation and Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Implementation Science and Practice.
Through compelling examples and practical insights, Dr. Barwick’s lecture, “From Lab to Life: Unleashing the Power of Implementation Science in Practice Settings,” highlights the critical role of implementation science in promoting the uptake of research findings into routine practice, thereby optimizing evidence-based interventions and services.
