CCE Webinar: Microcredentialing Basics
Higher Education institutions and the traditional processes they employ are facing increased competition from an increasingly globalized and technical world. At the same time, globalization and technology advancements have allowed institutions access to new potential student populations and the ability to increase the potential value of their product. Micro-credentials represent one such opportunity for higher education institutions as well benefits for companies, students, and communities. Micro-credentials allow higher education programs to reward skill development in smaller stages increasing both the flexibility of the educational program and the value of the educational product.
This presentation will explore the description and origins of micro-credentials along with their technological and ideological evolutions and examine the potential benefits that are driving interest in this technology. Finally, there will be a discussion of the different ways micro-credentials can be applied to higher education programs both formally and informally to benefit students, instructors, programs, and employers.
