Alfred Waddell: A Dalhousie Original
Over the holiday break, we published the profile of our final Dalhousie Original for Dal's 200th anniversary year.
Alfred Ernest Waddell’s (1896-1953) journey from Trinidad to Halifax was motived by a desire to better the lives of others. In the late-19th and early-20th centuries, Dalhousie attracted a small but notable population of students from the British West Indies. Waddell followed in their footsteps, enrolling in Dalhousie Medical School. He became one of its first Black graduates in 1933, and dedicated his life to fighting systems of oppression and speaking out against racial injustices in Halifax.
Start the year off right by checking out the technology in classrooms on the Studley and Sexton campuses in early January, before classes start up again.
Professors will soon receive accessibility notices, via email, for students enrolled in your course/s this term. Please read the full notice and contact the student's Access Advisor if you have questions.
Please note that there will be a power outage on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 to install a new high voltage (25kV) cable from Dentistry building to the Tupper Building
It was Dal’s big 200th anniversary year — but there was a lot more happening beyond the bicentennial celebrations. Take a look back at some of the many highlights of the past year, from campus news to awards and honours.
