Welcoming New Students
We had a fantastic turnout for our annual Dal Science Welcome Event. Incoming first-year students had the opportunity to connect over a slice of pizza with course instructors from first-year science classes as well as departmental advisors and student representatives from the Dalhousie Science Society.

Summer research scholarships
Attention students! Interested in working in a research lab next summer? Information and application forms for summer research scholarships will be available in early November. Check this newsletter for updates and visit dal.ca/science/urops to learn more.

Research conference funding
Attention students! Funding (up to $200 per student) is available from the Faculty of Science for undergraduate students who present their research at a conference, such as Science Atlantic. Application form and instructions are available here.

New e-newsletter process
The Dean's Office is refreshing its e-newsletter to the Faculty of Science community.Thank you for your patience as we work through developing a new process for seeking submissions, compiling, and delivering this e-newsletter. FOS COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS & KUDOS

Leah Ellis accepts Banting post doc position at MIT
Leah Ellis successfully completed her PhD in chemistry with the Jeff Dahn Group and has begun her work as a Banting Fellow in MIT's Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Congratulations, Dr. Ellis!

Another successful Bioblitz
On Friday, Sept. 21 the second ever Bioblitz of Studley Campus took place along with the first-ever Bioblitz of the Agricultural Campus in Truro. Initiated by the Environmental Science Program and the Department of Biology, the 2018 Dal Biolblitz saw 635 students, faculty and staff make a total of 14,689 observations of life from 1,741 different species. Wow!
