Major events
The Dalhousie Anti-Colonial Course Design Forum on Wednesday, February 19 and Thursday, February 20 (reading week): Curated to advance our collective understanding and implementation of anti-colonial course design, this hyflex (online and in-person) event offers seven sessions with the aim of bringing together educators who are actively engaged or interested in exploring anti-colonial approaches within their teaching practices.
The Dalhousie Conference on University Teaching and Learning (DCUTL) on Tuesday, April 29 (online) and Wednesday, April 30 (in-person): the Atlantic region’s preeminent opportunity to connect, share and be inspired by dynamic practice. The Call for Proposals is open until January 24th.

The Resilient Classroom series
These are stand-alone events, but are best experienced as a series: each focuses on a different aspect of student resilience.

- Effective written feedback – Monday, January 27
- A grading guide for TAs in Science – Tuesday, February 11
- Equitable Grading Practices: Ensuring Fairness and Consistency – Tuesday, March 4
Stand-alone sessions:
- Attendance, participation, engagement: What do they mean? Come to this session to discuss what these terms might mean, and how we might arrive at more specific understandings and articulations of how we hope students “show up” in class and in assessments.
- Building Trust in University Classrooms: Presenters share research findings on a conceptual model for building trust in university classrooms as a start point for a productive discussion.
- Mental Health 101 (in-person and online): Developed for university faculty and staff to increase awareness and understanding of mental illness and mental health problems.
- Teaching for Inclusive Learning Experience: In this interactive and collaborative workshop, participants will engage in an activity to find intersections and overlaps between two inclusive teaching frameworks, namely ITC and UDL.
- Vocal Training and Care for Instructors: Learn vocal training basics, signs of vocal fatigue and injury, and tips to improve your vocal health.
