The Faculty of Open Learning & Career Development is excited to announce a new professional development opportunity specifically for student services professionals. Dalhousie employees will have exclusive access to the Certificate in Student Affairs Program Assessment (login required) that begins in January 2025, which is designed to help participants develop essential skills in evaluating the impact and effectiveness of student-facing programs.
About the Program
This certificate is the result of a partnership between the Faculty of Open Learning & Career Development and Dalhousie Student Affairs. The curriculum has been designed for student services employees, making it relevant, practical, and tailored to their program assessment needs.
The certificate program has five courses that run for five weeks each, from January to December 2025, with breaks in between and a summer hiatus. The program is delivered online, with each course including two hours of live instruction and two hours of self-paced learning per week. Live classes are on Tuesday mornings (9-11 a.m.), fitting into the workday.
This first cohort is reserved exclusively for Dalhousie employees and features expert instructors, such as Heather Doyle (Director of Research, Assessment, & Planning) and Dr. Rick Ezekiel (Vice-Provost, Student Affairs).
Costs and Funding
The certificate costs $4,500. If you are eligible for Employee Tuition Assistance or DPMG Professional Development Funds, these can be used to cover the cost.
