Call for Expressions of Interest in 'Solutions for Kids in Pain'

Posted by Pediatrics on February 24, 2023 in General Announcements

Since 2019, Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP) has been a competitively funded Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) national knowledge mobilization initiative hosted by Dalhousie's Faculty of Medicine, with engagement and support from other Dalhousie faculties and departments, and many external partners and organizations. SKIP's vision is 'Healthier Canadians through better pain management for children' and SKIP's mission is 'To improve children's pain management by mobilizing evidence-based solutions through coordination and collaboration.' More information about SKIP is available on its website and through its most recent Report to the Community.

SKIP is now applying to become an official research centre at Dalhousie University. We are engaging in outreach across the university (and its associated health centres) to get a sense of how many individuals (faculty, trainees, staff and others) at Dalhousie and its affiliated health centres may be interested in becoming engaged if SKIP is approved as a Dalhousie centre.

Knowledge mobilization is the process of creating and sharing evidence findings in a way that is impactful to a variety of audiences (e.g., patients, caregivers, health professionals, policy makers, the public). Going forward SKIP is well positioned to share its expertise in knowledge mobilization across the Dalhousie community. SKIP would also be pleased to engage with faculty, trainees, staff and others who feel they could contribute to SKIP.

If we are approved as a Dalhousie Centre, SKIP would issue a formal open call for official members of the Centre (in the categories of 'faculty', 'trainee', 'knowledge user', and 'patient/caregiver'). This current call is simply to gain a sense of the level of interest in SKIP at the application stage.

If you are interested in potentially joining SKIP should its application for a designated research centre at Dalhousie be approved - please complete the following very brief (<5 min) survey.

Please complete by March 20th.
