We are recruiting participants who age 18 years and older and have experienced now or in the past stress, low mood, negative feelings or thoughts, worry, fear, panic attack, anxiety, or depression based on self-diagnosis. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a mental wellbeing application. 

 First, you will be asked to give consent to do the study. after giving your consent you will be asked to respond to a personality test to identify your personality type. Then based on the result of the personality test, you will be redirected to pre-survey questions (take 6 mins) which consist of demographics questions, questions about attitude, intention, and self-efficacy toward promoting mental health well-being, and questions of your level of stress and gratitude. After answering the pre-survey questions, the link to the app will be attached to the thank you page of the pre-survey. By clicking the link, you will be able to download the app on your device.  

Second, You will use the app daily by expressing what you are grateful for each day over five weeks. Entering your gratitude in the app takes up just one minute of your time. The app will send you a notification of your previous gratitude entry and another notification to encourage you to perform a simple act of kindness. For each week, the app will notify you to record your feedback regarding your feeling and experience with the app.  

At the end of the study, you will be asked to respond to the post-survey questions (take 8 mins) which is the same pre-survey question including your experiences and perceived persuasiveness towards the app. The interview will be optional. There will be a question that asks you if you want to be interviewed and by choosing “yes”, the researcher will communicate with you for an online interview which takes 15 mins. The interview will be audio recorded.  

Your participation is highly appreciated and is completely voluntary. All data will be treated confidentially and for research purposes only, and you will not be asked for any personal information. 

Compensation:  

You will be compensated with $15 gift card (at the end of the study) for participating in the study
