Walk‑in COVID testing this weekend at Zatzman Sportsplex in Dartmouth

Posted by Nova Scotia Health on December 4, 2020 in Community Highlights

Walk-in COVID testing will be available for 16 to 35-year-olds with no symptoms at Zatzman Sportsplex beginning Thursday, Dec. 3, through to Sunday, Dec. 6.

Anyone in the age range is welcome if they:

  • have no symptoms
  • have not been at an exposure site identified by public health
  • are not a close contact of a person with COVID-19

The testing method will be the standard PCR swab.

“We invite anyone between the ages of 16 to 35 to get tested, but are especially interested in seeing those who may have been to parties or gatherings in the last two weeks, or those who have a large number of social contacts,” said Dr. Jennifer Cram, Medical Officer of Health. “The intention is to take advantage of our available testing capacity to do everything we can to identify COVID in the community. We’re grateful to community members for helping us with this.”

People who come for testing are asked to bring a health card if they have one. They will not need to self-isolate while they wait for test results.

This testing will be available:

  • Thursday, Dec. 3 to Sunday, Dec. 6.
  • 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Zatzman Sportsplex, 110 Wyse Rd., Dartmouth.

People who have symptoms and are unwell should complete a self-assessment at covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca for those with symptoms.

People who have been at an exposure location identified by public health should complete the online self-assessment for people with no symptoms at covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca

Rapid testing

There is also a pop-up site for rapid testing taking place Friday (1:30-8 p.m.) and Saturday (10:30 a.m.-6 p.m.) at the Halifax Central Library. You can go to a pop-up testing site if you are at least 16 years old, and if you have:

  • No COVID-19 symptoms
  • Not recently travelled
  • No contact with people who have COVID-19
  • Not been at a location with COVID-19 exposure or work in the hospitality industry
