Position: TA65—Teaching Assistant Position 65 hours for CMSD 5120: Hearing Measurement, Winter Term 2021 (January to April, 2021)

Department: Communication Sciences and Disorders

Pay Rate: In accordance with Agreement between Dalhousie University and Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) - $1,587

Work Assignment:

  • Tutorial labs: Introduction to testing suite (audiometers and other standard equipment), how to perform air-conduction and bone conduction testing, how to perform tympanometry, how to perform OAEs)
  • Demonstrating laboratory assignments to pairs or small groups of students
  • Marking lab reports and support for marking exams and quizzes with the instructor
  • Student support
  • The Teaching Assistant will report to the Instructor of the Course, Sarah Wilson

Requirements of Position:

  • 2nd Year Student in SCSD, in good standing
  • Excellent writing /communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of hearing measurements CMSD 5120

Position: TA45—Teaching Assistant Position 45 hours for CMSD 6560: Amplification II, Winter Term 2021 (January 2021 - April 2021)
                
Department: School of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Pay rate:  In accordance with Agreement between Dalhousie University and Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) - TA45 $1,098

(Note: The successful candidate will also be able to count these 45 hours as simulated hours for clinical education.)   

Work Assignment:

  • Demonstrate and supervise laboratory exercises, in groups of two or three students, starting in February
  • Marking lab reports
  • The Teaching Assistant will report to the Professor of Record for this course, Dr. Rachel Caissie

Requirements of Position:

  • 3rd year audiology student in SCSD, in good standing
  • Excellent writing / communication skills
  • Previous experience with amplification, e.g., during internship, is an asset.
