Posted by Computer Science on July 20, 2020 in General Announcements

Hi, my name is Fernando Abreu, I am a master student at Dalhousie University and I am recruiting participants to take part in a research study for my Master's thesis to examine a tool to find potential anomalous ship trajectories.

I am looking for computer science undergraduate students at Dalhousie University. During the study we will go over the study details, you will need to fill a consent form to do the study and fill in a background questionnaire. You will then receive a short training through video on how to interact with the user interface for about 5 minutes. After that, you will be asked to use the proposed visualization tool to find vessels that may present some type of anomalous behaviour, for that you will be doing this by sorting, filtering and comparing trajectories.

Due to Coronavirus, this study will be done online. You will be sent a link for a Microsoft Teams meeting. You will need a computer with a browser with javascript enabled and internet access, and equipment that allows us to communicate (e.g. headset).

After the study is completed, you will fill out and submit an evaluation questionnaire about your experience with the system. The total length os the study should be about 60 minutes. Compensation for participation in this study is $20 CAD egift card for your participation.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Fernando Henrique Oliveira Abreu (vis.study.dal@gmail.com) until 22nd July 2020.
