Dalhousie introduces new International Travel Policy

Posted by Human Resources on February 26, 2019 in Human Resources

The new Dalhousie International Travel Policy is now available on the University Secretariat website, dal.ca/Policies. The purpose of this policy is to help ensure that all aspects of international travel by Dalhousie faculty, staff and students happen in a safe, effective and efficient way.

The policy applies to all faculty, staff and students who travel out of the country for university purposes, including research, academic studies, international learning experiences, as well as administrative work such as international partnership development and international student recruitment.

International travel can present unusual or heightened risks. To ensure the safety of our Dalhousie faculty, staff and students, the university has contracted a professional medical and security travel service, International SOS, to assist those who travel internationally. International SOS provides an array of services to travelers such as assisting with lost passports, providing immediate phone counselling services, accessing local physicians and other care providers, facilitating safe evacuations if necessary, and numerous other services.

Visit dal.ca/IntlTravel for important information about international travel including pre-travel planning, registration and restricted travel.
