Duties:
Reporting to Associate Professor D. Lynch, the technician will work in the Atlantic Soil Health Lab on a regional project that is creating a database of agricultural soil health. Duties will include processing soil samples with a variety of analytical tests, recording and working with data, and laboratory maintenance. This technician will work with a post-doctoral researcher, a research assistant and graduate students.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a team
- Demonstrated interest in agriculture or soil science
- Must be able to pay attention to, and record details
- Ability to learn new skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Completion of at least 2 year of studies in agriculture, biology, or environmental sciences with a minimum average of 75%
- Valid driver's license (essential)
Additional assets include (in order of importance):
- Laboratory skills or training in soil or plant analysis
- Interest or experience with soil microbiology
- Two years of agriculture education completed
