Research Technician Posting ‑ Department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences

Duties:

Reporting to Associate Professor D. Lynch, the technician will work in the Atlantic Soil Health Lab on a regional project that is creating a database of agricultural soil health. Duties will include processing soil samples with a variety of analytical tests, recording and working with data, and laboratory maintenance. This technician will work with a post-doctoral researcher, a research assistant and graduate students.  

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a team
  • Demonstrated interest in agriculture or soil science
  • Must be able to pay attention to, and record details
  • Ability to learn new skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Completion of at least 2 year of studies in agriculture, biology, or environmental sciences with a minimum average of 75%
  • Valid driver's license (essential)

Additional assets include (in order of importance):

  • Laboratory skills or training in soil or plant analysis
  • Interest or experience with soil microbiology
  • Two years of agriculture education completed

Salary:                 Commensurate with education and experience as per Dalhousie University pay-scale guidelines.
