Position:
Full time Limited Term Academic position, teaching two Veterinary Technology courses for the month of January 2019 in the Winter semester, both in the classroom and clinical laboratories.
 
Department Location:
Haley Institute, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus

Pay rate: In accordance with the applicable Collective Agreement.

Work Assignment:
The incumbent will be responsible for delivering course material to students in the Veterinary Technology Program both in a laboratory and classroom environment.  Class size would be in the range of 40-45 students.  The Limited Term Instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including clinical exercise laboratories, lectures, test preparation and evaluation.  Additional responsibilities include procuring animals from contracted providers, scheduling patient intake to meet course needs and overseeing horse care.  

Requirements of Position:
Registered Veterinarian Technician eligible to work in Nova Scotia and a graduate from an accredited Veterinary Technology program.  Minimum of 3 years experience in companion animal private practice.  Must be competent with companion animal restraint and experience in handling feral cats.  Experience in handling large animals such as horses would be an asset.  Must be competent in companion animal surgical assisting, veterinary nursing procedures such as blood collection, anesthesia and radiology.  Excellent computer, oral and written communication skills is required.  Experience in using an ultrasound machine is desirable.
