Participants required for an augmented reality application for online collaboration

Posted by Rowe School of Business on November 9, 2018 in General Announcements

We would like to invite you to participate in a research project investigating the effectiveness of online collaboration using chat, video, and augmented reality.

If you are an adult (18 years old or over) and student at Dalhousie who uses computers, you are qualified to participate in this study. The session will last one hour, and you can come any time from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Monday, November 19. The location is Lab #2026, the Rowe Building.

After participating in the study, you will receive a cash honorarium of $20.00.

Study participants will be introduced to an augmented reality, head-mounted tool (Microsoft HoloLens) and will be asked to use in an exploratory manner (e.g., getting familiar with the device and interacting with it, using simple apps such as a holographic tour, etc.). Upon completion of the task, the participant will answer questions in a brief online survey. The whole process requires approximately one hour. The questionnaire will be completed in a secure Internet survey website (Qualtrics).

The answers of research participants will be kept confidential, and we will not identify or describe any specific individuals. Also, none of data collected in this study will be available to anyone, except the researchers listed below and any reports made from the survey will be aggregated over all individuals participating. Thus, all analyses and results from the survey will refer only to overall tendencies and averages occurring in the sample.

This study is funded by an SSHRC Explore Grant and conducted by Dr. Moataz Soliman and Dr. Binod Sundararajan. Your participation in this project is important to the success of our research. If you have any questions about this project and survey, please feel free to contact us. Email: moataz.soliman@dal.ca.
